Echocardiography is the use of diagnostic ultrasound to examine the heart. In addition to first-time diagnosis of heart disease we also use echocardiography to monitor the changes in the pet's heart in chronic heart disease, assess a pet's response to heart medication, and screen patients prior to general anesthesia.

Echocardiography is not offered in many general veterinary practices. At Yarmouth Veterinary Center, we have the experience, expertise, and state-of-the-art equipment to provide this very valuable test for our patients in-house.

Also, our use of echocardiography is not limited to cats and dogs. We have made effective use of echocardiography for birds, reptiles, rabbits, ferrets, rodents and other small mammals.
