SNAKE MITE TREATMENT
Many snakes with mite problems simultaneously have other health problems; these other problems may or may not be related to the mites. In general, we recommend an exam prior to starting mite treatment.
Snake mites can be difficult to eradicate, and sometimes require more weekly treatments than the 5 suggested here.
Shake the mixture in the spray bottle very well just before each use, and several times during each use.
Spray the snake(s) once weekly for 5 weeks. Leave the spray on for 1/2 hour then wipe off.
Use the same spray mixture for the snake's enclosure. Spray the enclosure thoroughly, being careful to get in all cracks and crevices, such as under the rim of aquarium glass. Discard any non-essential cage accessories that cannot be thoroughly cleaned. Leave on for 1/2 hour then wash with hot soapy water and allow to dry before replacing snakes. Treat the enclosure once weekly for 5 weeks.
Use only newspaper or other non-abrasive paper for the duration of the treatment and the cage substrate.
Do not use this spray on or near tortoises or turtles - it is potentially very toxic to them.
